Madame Tussauds London today unveiled a stunningly lifelike new figure of Her Majesty The Queen in honour of her Diamond Jubilee.
Replicating the official Jubilee portrait photograph released earlier this year, the figure will be dressed in a recreation of the white and silver lace dress covered in 53,000 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS with blue silk sash adorned with The Queen’s Garter Badge, topped off by a replica of the diamond and pearl George IV State Diadem.
Principal Sculptor, Steve Swales, commented “Meeting The Queen at our last sitting was an invaluable help in creating this figure. She was very relaxed and warm and I’ve tried to portray that, whilst maintaining a sense of majesty.”
The Queen’s figure took four months to create at a cost of £150,000 and will remain in the Royal area of the attraction alongside recently launched figures of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge plus other members of the Royal Family including the Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, today made their debut at Madame Tussauds London, when stunningly life like wax figures of the much loved young Royal couple were revealed.
The hugely popular couple’s portrayal in the attraction is inspired by their iconic engagement pose. Catherine is dressed in an exact copy of the stunning blue Issa London dress she wore on the day of the announcement. Prince William is in a replica of the Gieves and Hawkes navy two piece single breasted suit recreated by the renowned tailors. Catherine’s figure will also sport a recreation of the stunning sapphire and diamond engagement ring once worn by the late Diana, Princess of Wales. William sports a replica of the Omega Seamaster watch he wore on his engagement day.
The couple were kept closely informed of work on the figures at every stage of the creation process continuing a Royal relationship that goes back 180 years when Madame Tussaud opened her first attraction in London featuring the figure of King William IVth. The figures each cost £150,000 to make and took a dedicate team of artists four months to create.

Madame Tussauds London today welcomed award-winning Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene. Madhuri, famed for her dazzling dancing, was at the world famous attraction to unveil her stunning new wax figure in front of friends and family.
The star of hit films including Devdas, Dil To Pagal Hai, Beta and M.f Hussain's Gaja Gamini is the sixth Bollywood celebrity to be honoured by Madame Tussauds London and only the second actress following Aishwarya Rai who entered the attraction back in 2004. On meeting her double for the first time Madhuri commented “I am thrilled to be here in Madame Tussauds unveiling a wax figure of myself. It’s incredible just how detailed the figure is – they have captured my look beautifully! I feel very humbled to be included alongside other Bollywood stars and some of my personal heroes.” Madhuri was completely involved in the creation of her figure, attending a sitting in Mumbai where sculptors captured a catalogue of reference photographs and hundreds of precise measurements to create this staggering likeness. Madhuri also donated the exquisite saree her figure is wearing.
The figure took four months to make at a cost of £150,000. The world famous attraction has worked closely with the Indian film industry over the last decade and the Bollywood area is one of its most popular, featuring figures of Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan in a colourful, themed set.
As well as Bollywood and Hollywood A-listers, Madame Tussauds London is home to a host of world famous musicians, politicians and sports personalities including the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Plus guests can enjoy Marvel Super Heroes 4D; three themed floors bring to life some of Marvel’s best loved heroes through a mix of fun interactives, startlingly realistic Madame Tussauds wax figures and an awesome 4D film finale.

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of Olympic hopeful Tom Daley’s dramatic diving figure, Madame Tussauds today announced that the next Olympian to be honoured with a place in the attraction is Jamaican running sensation, Usain Bolt. The figure will join the interactive sports zone before the competition kicks off in July and will make a dynamic addition portrayed in his trademark “To Di World” pose.
Work is already well underway and the figure will join champion diver Daley and his team GB mate heptathelete Jessica Ennis, as well as a host of sporting legends past and present – from Jesse Owens and Mohammed Ali to Ronaldo and Beckham. “We are very excited to confirm Bolt’s inclusion in time for the big Event this summer,” said PR Manager, Liz Edwards. “We have had such positive feedback to our British Olympians, Jessica Ennis and Tom Daley, we’re confident sporting fans are going to love the latest international addition to the area.
The figure will be in a fun and dramatic pose, paying tribute to a five time world and three time Olympic Champion. Bolt will be defending his record breaking Olympic titles this summer so it’s perfect timing and an opportunity for guests to get up close to one of the most talked about sports personalities of the moment.”
27 February 2012

With the Olympics less than five months away, Madame Tussauds London unveiled a brand new wax figure of Tom Daley, paying tribute to Team GB and Daley as one of the faces of London 2012. One of the most dramatic figures ever to feature at Madame Tussauds, Daley is captured in mid-dive as he soars from the diving board towards the water. The high impact figure is suspended at a height of four metres in a specially designed aquatic set and guests can literally walk right underneath as Daley is frozen in action.
The champion diver commented: “I can't wait to see the figure and know the sculptors will have done an amazing job. I'm sure it'll be a strange feeling to see my 'twin' suspended in mid-dive - it really is an honour to be in Madame Tussauds London amongst so many sporting legends.” Over the last six months Tom has been heavily involved in the creation of the figure, from choosing the pose and donating his blue adidas trunks; he even managed to squeeze in two sittings with Madame Tussauds sculptors between training and studying for his A-levels. Because of the unique nature of the pose, the figure was one of the most complex ever created by the Madame Tussauds Studios team.
The figure shows more flesh than any other in the attraction and the muscle definition of an athlete descending in a perfect dive had to be spot on. The facial expression also needed to portray Daley accurately, upside down and totally focused in the moment of the dive. The inverted positioning also created special challenges for the hair and colouring team and a special spinning support mechanism was created to allow the team to rotate the figure during the final stages of completion. Daley takes his place in Madame Tussauds’ newly revamped interactive Sports Zone, joining fellow Team GB member, Jessica Ennis and a cast of sporting legends from past and present – from Mohammed Ali to David Beckham. Plus another 2012 hopeful will join Daley just before the big event begins but details are being kept tightly under wraps for now.

The award winning actress Madhuri Dixit-Nene is the latest Indian film star set to join the A-list line up here at Madame Tussauds London. Madhuri, famed for her dazzling dancing, has already given a sitting to our sculptors in Mumbai and will be unveiling her wax figure in London on Wednesday 7th March. Due to the huge media interest this launch will take place before the attraction opens to guests and will not be able to involve fans. The attraction will open at 9.30am as normal so fans are welcome to buy tickets for that day so they can be one of the first to see her figure.
The decision to include Madhuri is set to delight Bollywood fans around the world as we are constantly inundated with requests to feature Madhuri. Her figure will make a stunning new addition to our Bollywood area which continues to grow in popularity every year. With so many awards to her name and a career spanning over 25 years she undoubtedly deserves her place here and we expect huge interest in the figure when she takes up residence next year! To ensure total authenticity, Madhuri will be closely involved in the creation process, collaborating with our team to agree the pose and even donating a Manish Malhotra sari for her figure to wear. Her hair will flow loosely over her shoulders, styled to show off her long tresses to full effect. Madhuri’s figure will be in good company here at Madame Tussauds London joining five of the biggest names in Indian cinema – Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

The current Queen has been modeled by the attraction over 20 times and has given the studio team six personal sittings over the years. Their Highnesses have been closely involved and kept informed at every stage of the process.
